Schedule a Next Visit

Book a follow-up appointment for a patient immediately after completing their current visit.

Prerequisites

  • The current appointment must be transitioning to COMPLETED status
  • Staff account with appointment create permission

Steps

  1. When marking an appointment as COMPLETED, the system offers an option to schedule a next visit.
  2. Select the option to schedule a follow-up.
  3. The booking form is pre-populated with the same service and same patient.
  4. Choose a new date from available dates.
  5. Choose an available time slot.
  6. Click Confirm to create the follow-up appointment.

Notes

  • The next visit appointment is a new independent appointment — it is not linked to the completed one.
  • All standard booking rules apply: slot availability, SmartScheduling assignment, email notification.
  • You can skip next visit scheduling and simply complete the appointment without booking a follow-up.
  • The SmartScheduling engine applies continuity of care rules, so the same staff member is preferred if available.
  • Appointment completion is independent of session completion — completing an appointment does not automatically complete any linked session, and vice versa.
